This is from Jason Short, an employee of Inner Peaks, about his first yoga class ever:
Today was my first ever yoga class, so I thought I would share my thoughts for all who are on the fence.
I was a bit nervous about it since I have never done it before, but apparently that was not a problem. There were four of us in the class, and it was very fast paced. I was so focused on doing the poses that I had a hard time keeping up with the breathing (and remembering to breath. That takes more effort than one might think). I imagine that I will get it with more practice. My muscles shook from the effort and sweat was pouring off of me, but my instructor Daniel was very encouraging and never told anyone that they were doing something wrong. He only used corrections to make it more right! I know this because I could immediately feel a change in my body as we performed the exercises. I was often told throughout the class that we did NOT have to get it perfect.
After the class I felt great! I was not tired or drained, but I was pretty pumped up. In one short hour, my body was caused to be more relaxed than I have been in many years. Today I did not have to deal with muscle pain, which is a wonderful thing. I walked in a skeptic, but I drank the Kool-Aid, and I’m going back for more.
So all that to say this: If you are not sure, then give it a shot. If you are sure its not for you and you have not done it, then give it a shot. You may be surprised by the results.
