Studio Information

Inner Peace Yoga is a new yoga studio located in SE Charlotte, NC at Inner Peaks Climbing Center. Inner Peace was started by dedicated rock climbers who also own Inner Peaks. When we began practicing yoga, we noticed our climbing improved. As we continued to practice, we saw benefits in ALL areas of our lives; lower stress, better sleep and an all around improved attitude. Plus it was really, really fun! So when we decided to expand our climbing walls, we wanted to include a yoga studio as well and share more of what we love with the Charlotte community.

In addition to our yoga studio and climbing walls, Inner Peace Yoga has a fitness room that includes cardio equipment, weights and other basic fitness tools. Anytime you take a yoga class, you can work out for no extra charge. Climbing is 1/2 price if you want to pull down and get bendy on the same day.

At Inner Peace Yoga, we think that one of the most important aspect of a quality studio is the instructors. We are excited to bring you some of the best Charlotte has to offer.

Yoga is a journey. We strive to make ours playful and full of joy. Please stop by and follow the path with us for a bit. Breathe more. Smile more. Namasté.

Pip Gregson

pip photo (E-RYT) Studio Director: Pip tried yoga (on a dare) and there was resistance. Growing up as an athlete she loved to push herself to her edge and compete.Pip discovered yoga was perfect, a maximum challenge on a personal level. It taught her how to relax and breath even if your legs are screaming.
Pip is a teacher who will ask you to dangle your toes over “your edge” and become your own teacher She has the ability to take you through a class that is vigorous but still get you to laugh or giggle. Pip teaches as taught by her teachers Ana Forrest (Moksha Yoga), Cameron Shayne and Baron Baptiste (Tulum). Pip has also studied with Sean Corne, Rolf Gates and Mark Blanchard. Pip’s current teachers….. her son and her bike.

Debi Hawkins-McLendon

debi yoga(E-RYT): Debi was first introduced to yoga by her mother while she was still in college.  She dabbled with it for years, only becoming a serious student in 1997 after learning she had arthritis in her hips.  Yoga has helped her avoid that hip replacement for more than a decade, so she decided to share her love for the practice by becoming a teacher. Debi earned her teacher certification from the Asheville Yoga Center in 2003 and is a Yoga Alliance Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher.  Awarded the Anusara-Inspired (TM) Yoga Teacher designation in 2006, she is currently working toward full Anusara certification with John Friend.  Debi is inspired by the teachings of Desiree Rumbaugh, Sarah Faircloth, Linda Oelschlaeger, Douglas Brooks, Bill Mahony, and Paul Muller-Ortega.  Her Anusara-Inspired classes are playful and devotional as she encourages her students to celebrate life and express their uniqueness on and off the mat.

Jackie LaBarbera

jackie(E-RYT): Jackie received her 200 hour teacher training in 2002 with Lillah Schwartz in Asheville, NC with a focus in the Iyengar yoga tradition.  She has since taken workshops with Roger Cole, Brian Kest and Stephanie Keach. In addition to teaching yoga, Jackie works full time as a physical therapist at Carolinas Rehabilitation as a Spinal Cord Injury Specialist and is a personal trainer with the American Council on Exercise. She has been a member of Inner Peaks since they opened and is excited to be a part of the new yoga studio.

Daniel McCall

Daniel2aDaniel grew up in Charlotte. He studied Literature, Art and Design in school and took his first yoga class in the odd months after graduation. In the post-college fog of wondering, “Where should I go with my life?” and “What does it all mean?” he stumbled into a vinyasa yoga class and discovered that the answers to every question of destiny lie inside.

Yoga ignited the pilot light of self-transformation and through a physically challenging practice he found that the suffering and malaise of life was really just a habit pattern. Through a little sweat, breathing and self expression Daniel found that habits can be transcended and this continues to be the core of his teaching. Daniel is thrilled to teach a practice that engages people’s bodies and minds and ultimately helps people become their own North Star. He teaches at Charlotte studios and to youth groups and community organizations, creating a space for positive change. It’s a process that sustains his continued transformation.

“A yoga practice is ultimately a deep conversation with the self. Whatever the poses, whatever the thoughts and whatever emotions come up, it’s between you and you. The you that has become a mundane habit and the you deep inside that’s ready to shine light on the world.

Allison Modafferi

Allison4(RYT): Allison started practicing Vinyasa yoga while living in New York after college, and discovered Anusara Yoga soon after moving back to Charlotte.  She became a Certified and Registered Yoga Teacher through the Yoga Alliance in 2004, and is currently working towards her Anusara Yoga Teacher Certification. The intense, fun-loving, heart-centered style of Anusara Yoga speaks to her passionate, creative side, and her Vinyasa practice weaves her desire for movement with a steadiness of breath.  Allison’s classes combine the flow of Vinyasa with the subtle details of Anusara alignment.  Prepare to be challenged, to explore, to be inspired, and most of all, to have fun!

Nicole Sameit

Nicole(RYT) Nicole took her first yoga class in 2000, but it wasn’t until her move to Charlotte in 2006, that she committed to deepen her practice.

She sees yoga as a lifelong journey and students should respect the mental, physical and emotional benefits yoga brings.

She inspires students to be challenged in the body (alignment and anatomy) and frees the mind through pranayama.  She brings lightheartedness to each students mat.  Nicole honors her teachers Stephanie Keach, Barbara Hall and Shala Worsley whom she studied under  at the Asheville yoga center.
